GIZ Rwanda is now recruiting a Communications Intern for one of
the region’s most strategic and impactful initiatives: the Incorporating
Local Perspectives into the Women, Peace & Security (iWPS) Agenda
project.
This is more than an internship — it

in advancing women’s participation in peace and security across the Great Lakes
Region.

in meaningful, long-term ways.

Position: Communications Intern
Location: Kigali, Rwanda
Duration: 6 Months

What You Will Do — Key Responsibilities
This internship is designed to
sharpen your professional communication and media skills while exposing you to
real-life development and peacebuilding workflows.
1.
Media House Coordination
- Manage activities under the media house contract
- Schedule coordination meetings, prepare minutes,
agendas & briefing notes
- Track progress, deliverables, and communication
timelines
2.
Content Creation & Digital Communication
- Develop high-quality communication materials for events
and activities
- Create social media posts, short narratives, captions,
and visuals
- Collaborate with the GIZ Country Office for publication
and branding
3.
Event Communications Support
- Assist with branding, banners, photography, and visual
documentation
- Contribute to event planning, coverage, and reporting
- Help ensure smooth communication workflows during
events
4.
Communications Strategy Execution
- Support implementation of the project’s communications
strategy
- Draft factsheets, communication plans, and digital
content
- Assist with knowledge management, archiving, and file
organization
Do You Qualify? — What GIZ Is Looking For
Education
& Experience
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications,
Media, or Journalism
- Previous internship or project experience is a big
advantage
- Understanding of peace & security, gender equality,
or development work
Technical
Skills
- Strong digital writing and storytelling skills
- Basic knowledge of project coordination, planning &
reporting
- Familiarity with tools like WordPress, Canva,
Pictochart, Adobe InDesign (asset)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online
communication platforms
Language
Skills
- Excellent English (C1) — essential for reporting &
content creation
- Good French (B2) — an added advantage for regional
communication
Personal
Qualities
- Creative, innovative, and enthusiastic about learning
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive
- Comfortable working in multicultural teams
- Able to travel across the region if needed
