- English: CEFR B2 or above (e.g., TOEFL iBT ≥ 72
or IELTS ≥ 5.5), OR
- Japanese: JLPT N2 or higher, OR
- Degree previously taught in English/Japanese.
- Health:
Physically and mentally fit.
- Others: Not residing in Japan, not a previous MEXT recipient
(unless criteria are met), and ready to arrive around October 2026.
